Bottle of Red

Done for Paint & Draw Together, this wonderful jar of red pigment has a great shape & lots of "shapes" to paint. I love doing items like this, where I get to work with shadows & lights as merely shapes. And it still amazes me that I paint shapes, step back, and then see the entire image come to life!

For those of you who may be unfamiliar with my "shapes" style of painting, this is a method I learned long ago in school, and have since become familiar with again. Rather than painting details and working with blending, I paint the shadows, midtones & lights as individual shapes. This gives the viewers eye the chance to "blend" it. As one viewer told me "it's all there, all the details and all the lines, and yet it isn't!" Hopefully, this style makes the painting interesting for the viewer.

Thank you everyone. Loved working with that red. Red is such a wonderful paint, in color, in density, in intensity! Loved this bottle, it's shape & cap were wonderful to paint. @Angela - I loved doing the print on the bottle as an abstract. I didn't need to worry about my handwriting being legible!
