"The Red Door"

Painted in 2010, this painting was done as a challenge (although I don't remember which one). I loved how the house was surrounded by the greenery, and of course, I loved all that green!
I tried to vary the greens quite a bit, with some more yellow, more with a blue hue, and still some with a red hue mixed in. Because in nature, all the greens do vary.
The original photograph showed the door with a green window frame & door, but I felt that would be lost amongst the foliage greens surrounding the building. So I switched to a red - the compliment of green - and it helps to make it pop. I added some of the red to the foreground items as well to the trees up top.
Lastly, I painted in the shadows. This is another one of my favorites!
