After the Harvest

"After the Harvest"
Stavanger, Norway
9x12 acrylic on canvas panel
Available through eBay Gallery/Auction

So often in upstate NY, I have seen these empty fields at the end of the season. During the summer months they are full with plants and are so green. But then the harvest takes place, and the plants are often cut back near to the ground. They leave these lines of short sticks that seem to stick up from the ground like an army of soldiers standing at attention. Although some are taller than others, and some are crooked as well.

Those rows stand out and create a pattern - some encircling the field while others are simply lines. That is what I tried to capture here. All rows are lines that lead back to the farm, as does the road. I wonder who lives there?

Looks like a beautiful home with their own pond, all that gorgeous land, off the road, trees surround...My kind of place! Beautiful painting, Nancie!
