Green Fields

Acrylic on 9x12 canvas panel
Available through DPW gallery/auction

This was done for Lee Browns March Photo Challenge - a wonderful photo from a recent travel to Ireland. Love those greens!

When I first painted this, I put the blue background in as it was in the photo -- distant blue mountain jutting out into the bluefish water. But as I continued to paint this image, I found that blue mountain was just grabbing too much attention. I kept subduing it, until finally I was happy with it - but now, it simply looks like the sky! Sometimes, what a camera catches, doesn't work well in a painting for me! Now my subject is the the distant house/buildings on the horizon.

I pulled out my knives on this one. I wanted to paint this & add some interest, some texture. Thought the knives would give that interest to this - and I like how it worked out. This was a fun one to do - thanks again Lee!

I do so love the lushness of the green, Nancie. To me, a farm house with mountains nearby? It doesn't get too much better than that, unless there is also water and tons of trees.

Nice interpretation, Nan. Like what you did with the green fields and background. It sings "Irish".
