Rookie Painter challenge #24 is a great window shot that Jen took at the Seelbach in Louisville. Wow, what a shot this is - and a challenge to paint. But as soon as I saw all those lines & angles, and different vanishing points - I knew I had to tackle this one.

This is where all that my dad taught me about perspective drawing & vanishing points came into play - and what better day to do this painting than on Father's Day. My dad is long time gone (died in 1972) and I miss him, but moments such as this bring him back to me.

I wondered what title to give this. I had a few "Green Curtains", "Window to Window" and "Through the Window" - settled on the simple "Window View" - at least for now.

Absolutely delightful! I am so curious as to what the rest of this apartment looks like...and the apartment with the green curtains! Your perspective is beautifully done too, Nancie!

Really great view, Nan! Wonderful job on the perspective and vanishing points! This seems like such a simple thing--looking out a window at two other windows. But it really is intriguing--what's the story about this view? Does someone live here and that's their view of life? As always, I love your style of painting!

Edward Hopper comes to my mind, beautiful painting and great color choices.

Your green curtains really make this 'technical' scene pop.

Thank you all. I have a fondness for this painting. All the lines, the angles and I made the green curtains grab the viewers attention.
@Horst - thank you kindly for that reference to Edward Hopper. I'm proud to have touched a bit on his style!
