Autumn Leaves
This is my submission to Inspiration All Around Us. For any of you that do not follow that blog of challenges, it's host Dana Marie is asking to pass the baton, so to speak. Due to other commitments & time conflicts, she is no longer able to maintain the blog & it's challenges. She is asking if anyone is interested in taking it over to contact her. If you are, click on the link above to go to the site.
Since this is Dana's last challenge, I chose to paint her photo rather than one of my own. Besides, how could I resist this grouping of such colorful leaves? And the bricks below the leaves, ah, a perfect combination.
This one took me quite a bit of time, as does any grouping of elements. Each element needs it's own attention, even if details are left to only a few. Quite a bit of blending was done, mostly on the canvas as I painted. Since acrylics dry so fast, I often grab the white or yellow or even purple to add tone to areas of a leaf while the main color is still wet.
One last note, I thought it fitting that I name this "Autumn Leaves" as I heard from Sherry today. Her story is one that hits deep to the heart. She has been on my mind of late, and when I finished this, I could only think to name it such.

Such lovely colors! I am impressed! As I am with all of your work!
As soon as I read the post heading I thought of Sherry too.. Nancie this is so beautiful!
This is beautiful and such a nice tribute to Sherry.
Thank you for giving me a heads up about Sherry. I had not idea! I sent he a message. I think this is an outstanding painting! I love your new "happy" blog look. And these leaves are wonderful - I thought they were a photograph at first!
Thank you all for your comments. I know Sherry is not able to view all the blogs like she use to, so I emailed her a copy of this. She was thrilled & said she would keep the email to look at it often, as she loves the autumn colors & leaves.
