The Ruby Slippers
Just a quick knife painting for my second submission to Calypso Moon Artist Challenge. For the second painting this month we were not allowed to use brushes, so I grabbed the knife. This was a fun painting to do, and not very much detail either.
But I was always so taken with The Wizard of Oz - oh how I remember those flying monkeys, they scared me half to death as a child! But it was the ruby slippers that the witch wanted - well, on Halloween, the witch got the slippers and wore them as she flew off into the sky. She was on her way to the annual Witches Ball and she was ready to dance the night away!
Have a Happy Halloween everyone!

The composition is excellent and highly imaginative with the right choice of colors, Nancie, I loved it!
I love the red shoes! I was always scared of that movie, too. When the Witch had Dorothy gaze into her magic crystal ball and suddenly Auntie Em's face faded to become the Witches face...sent me off screaming every time! (Still gives me the chills!)
The colors are very rich in this painting. It kinda looks like the witch is holding the moon. Maybe she stole that too, along with the slippers?
Love your colors and the idea of the red slippers!
I wish I would have had the time to do the 2nd one...this was a fun challenge.
I love the Wizard of Oz also. Did u see the play "Wicked" - it was awesome!! I like both your witch paintings. Nice work!
Great witch paintings; I love the rich texture of this. I was a witch for a Halloween party, and it was a lot of fun. I didn't have ruby slipper, but I did have striped socks like in the movie.
What a fun palette knife painting Nancie. That seems like the perfect technique for this scene.
