Lemons with Flower

Done for the Paint & Draw challenge this month, still life of lemons & flower. But I have to say, the shadows & lines are what drew me to paint this one. There is just so much going on, so many lines, I love it. I simplified things a bit by doing the "shapes" painting. But still there is quite a bit of activity (hopefully not too much).

Head over if you have a chance. Many artists have posted their renditions, it's interesting to see who focused on what in this image.

Hi Nancie, I love your use of bold color. The yellow against the blue really works well. Beautifully done.

It's a success, Nancie, and it was not easy!As usual, your cropping is original!

It is a remarkably complicated subject, full of problems like a semi-transparent bowl, and shadowy lemons against a dark background. Good idea to cut off half the bowl and play up the red flower and its charming shadow.

Nancie, your rendition is beautiful. I love your painting "style". Your "Public Landscape" is another strong painting I really like. You manage to simply your subject matter and still keep the excitement and movement.

Before reading your description, I too was drawn to your lines, shapes, and shadows. This is very stunning!
