Tulips

Continuing with the spring theme, these were done for the floral challenge on WC last month. Always loved tulips, and I love to see them blooming in the yard. Actually, I love all the early summer flowers - crocus's, hyacinths, daffodils, etc. The Hyacinths are always so fragrant, you can smell them at the other end of the yard when they are blooming. All signs of spring, and no one can deny that the colors of these flowers are very welcomed after the winter landscape has been around for a while.

What gorgeous tulips!! I so love the colors in this piece, bright and spring-like! I always thought that orange/green were complimentary colors. Just realized not too long ago that it wasn't too. Still, a favorite color combo of mine anyway. I am now longing to smell hyacinths! So glad to know that little bird wasn't neglected even after having had to be handled to get back in the nest. Also glad the wee bairn was ok!

I love tulips (and the other bulbs you mentioned) but we don't get to see them here except in flower shops or sometimes in very dedicated gardener's yard. You depicted them beautifully. I love the variety of greens in the leaves.
Another flower I wish grew here is the peony. Do those grow where you live?

Thanks Sherry, glad you liked these. I liked the orange/green combination also, and I did put a bit of "blue" into the green leaves - which I think really made the orange pop. Spring always rejuvenates me, both the flowers & the birds - I look forward to seeing it all again soon.

Hi Nancy, so glad you stopped by & visited with my art. I would be heartbroken if I couldn't grow flowers in my yard. Although, I love a good flower shop too! We have a vacation home up in NY state, where the weather zone is a bit colder. I have trouble growing things there but the peonies I planted have just grown into huge bushes every year now. I have 3 different colors, dark red/rose, pink & white. I agree with you, they are gorgeous flowers and I may paint them this year!
