Northville Lake

"Northville Lake"
9x12 acrylic on canvas

Behind the gallery in upstate NY is a small park that overlooks the lake. It's a lovely lake & very scenic. I caught this view with my camera last autumn and have intended to paint it for some time. In face, it's been sketched & waiting for most of the winter! This weekend, I decided to paint it.

The park was recently designated as the start for the Northville-Placid Trail and we had a major dedication last year. One of the artists designed an entry arch, while another craftsman fashioned the arch & overhead plaque out of wood.

Here is a bit of history regarding the trail:

The SVAN gallery that I am a member of in Northville will reopening it's doors again starting the beginning of April. (we've been closed except by appointment for the winter)

I have decided to enter this painting, along with "Rural Laundry" to the gallery for the opening. Both are paintings from the immediate area and I think they would do well on display in their "home."

What a beautiful scene, Nancie!! I think you are right to include this in your gallery opening. Hopefully it helps draw in the locals!!

I hope you've made postcards to sell at the gallery of this scene.

Lovely painting Nan. I particularly like the cobalt blue water against the bright yellow-green leaves. The pop of red; and the purple shadows on the right quietly set the whole scene off. Nice work.
