Secret Garden

"Secret Garden"
9x12 acrylic on canvas on hardboard
Available through DPW gallery/auction

I am actually surprised that this painting has not sold - but I have it up for auction at DPW now at an affordable price.

We have lots of  trees in our area of upstate NY state, and when I walk through the woods I always admire the ferns. They come back every year, after the cold winter. And they form a wonderful green "blanket" on the forest floor. When the sunlight does break through in the small clearings, the greens light up with vibrance.

The tree limbs & trunks are a different story. They are brown, yes. But there are colors in that brown - and they become magnified with the sunlight as well. I tried to capture that moment when I painted this.

And as I always say, if you're quiet when you go through the woods, you may catch a glimpse of a forest creature or even an elf or 2!

I do so love trees and leaves, greens and browns. This is beautiful, Nan.
