Fall at the Pond

"Fall at the Pond"
9x12 acrylic on canvas on hardboard
Available through DPW gallery/auction

I know it's summertime - well just about - but tonights cooler, crisper air made me think of the early, early fall days. That time when the air is clear and the colors are crisp & clean. Everything is still green, but there is a hint of color in some of the leaves. Have you ever watched the colors of nature as they change - subtle but noticeable. The very light, yellow-greens of spring give way to the darker, deeper greens of summer which then gives way to the more drab greens of late summer. And then the colors - the hints of red, & yellow & orange start showing.

I had painted this a few years ago, I believe for a challenge. The grasses cut across the entire front in the reference photo, but I thought a nice path to the water would be nice.

Your greens are always gorgeous. I love the bucolic feel of this piece; it becomes a sanctuary. Beautiful work, Nancie.
