Missing the Point

"Missing the Point"
9x12 acrylic on canvas panel
Available through eBay Gallery/Auction

This is a second painting of Washington DC, this month's VPO. The original view can be seen here.

I was struck by the number of these attached homes, and the different colors & styles they have from one another. Windows differ, as do colors, landscaping & plants. But when I found this one scene, where the green section did not have the pointed top I knew it needed to be painted.

Fascinating homes & buildings in the Washington DC area - I have not really visited the area since my school days (a class trip). Since then I have only passed through on a train, or overhead in a plane. I think I need to put this on my list for a visit one day soon, and just make sure I have my camera with me!

I love these old buildings and the raised yards are awesome, Nan. Nice choice to paint and nicely painted too!

I like this painting a lot Nan. That is interesting that the green house doesn't have a pointed roof and I love your title. It's perfect.

Thank you both! I think this little painting invites each viewer to invent a story. Why is the peak missing, did it once exist & was removed? Or did it never exist on the green house…. Creates a bit of a mystery!
