Now Orchids I love! But I have a terrible time growing them - so I paint them instead!

Again, the background is a scrumbling on this, in assorted browns. I think the dark background helps to make the magenta colors stand out, along with the greens. And I think a background can make, or break, a good painting. 

The red in this is Alizarin Crimson, with dark purple lines. It's a very rich combination, so I think it gives the whole painting a rich, almost velvety feel.
