Springtime Cottage

Commissioned Piece - NFS
9 x 12 Acrylic on canvas panel

This is probably the last home portrait to be done before Christmas (unless a stray rush comes in). I am planning to do 1 myself as a gift for someone, so that will probably be next.

I had fun with this - the client said to make it springtime with spring flowers. And following the supplied photos, I put together this little scene. Of course the photos were current (early winter with no leaves) - so I changed the season when I painted.

But I have to ask you - do you see the face in the front of the house? The 2 eyes (windows), the nose below, and the open mouth (front door). It's as if the house is saying "OH" - Isn't it great?

Then again, maybe it's me. I've been painting home portraits so often now that the houses are taking on a life of their own. That seems a bit Alice in Wonderland'ish, doesn't it?

I think I hear the beginnings of a children's book in this blog??? Thanks for being part of the ART PARTY.

Oh how beautiful! I think this house is gorgeous and I wish I could see the inside too. Love the landscaping in the yard and the red door against gray house. Perfection!!
