"Winter Bench"
9x12 acrylic on canvas panel
Available through DPW gallery/auction
Previously painted in 2011,
this painting is now on a 1-week auction at DPW
at a very affordable starting bid!
This was previously painted for a DPW challenge that required the artist use only 4 values. Loved doing this one!
The scene is from upstate NY at the lake, in winter of course. A heavy, wet snow had fallen & stuck to everything. Our neighbors bench sat in it's place, looking out over the cove, same as it had done throughout summer. Only now it had a coating of snow - I knew I had to paint this scene when I saw it!

I've been to Rochester a couple of times with Michael and I think it is beautiful in upstate NY. Love all the trees and when the snow falls? Stunning! Lovely painting, Nancie!
This is beautiful Nancie. The pigments you chose are perfect to describe the visual signs of snowy, winter - cold.
Thank you Sherry. I find NY state beautiful also!
Thank you Nancy. It might be that I was cold taking the picture and cold when I was painting - so I grabbed those "cold" colors quickly because they fit! :)
