Garden Window

"Garden Window"
6x8 acrylic on stiff mixed media paper
Available through DPW gallery/auction

This is one of my smaller pieces and I am thinking of doing a series of these. I'd like to depict what I call "small snapshots" of everyday life.

The original photograph was sent to me from a relative. She sent me quite a few of her home recently for a home portrait. This photograph was sent so that I could see the shutters that were being painted to go on the house.

There was something about this image that pulled my attention - I think it was the window that allowed you to look through & out the other window. Also the assorted lines of the siding, the lines of the window & the lines of the shutter -- all things that I like to paint. Then add the simple shelf with 2 potted plants, and I suddenly want to be there & planting my flower plants again!

This painting was done on a stiff mixed media paper (equivalent to a textured postcard paper). It is being sold without the usual hardboard backing that I use with my canvas. For that reason, it is at a very affordable price on DPW.

I too like when you can through one window and on through another in the house like this. What a lovely home and I love the snapshot you chose of this one too. Nicely done, Nan!
