Another home in Oradell, this one with a large screened in porch along the front & a large growth of ivy going up the chimney. This home doe not have quite the architectural design that some of the other homes had, but the screened front door reminded me of our back door where I lived as a kid. The type of door that would slam shut so easily, and it would always result in the adults yelling "don't slam the door!"
Also, that ivy growing up the chimney -- how often we use to see plant life growing up the sides of a home. Now, I think most folks know that it can invite insect problems and result in some rot of the siding. But still, I have to say, it gives a wonderful look.
Here is the black & white of the original:
The next home I plan to do is the mansion that resides in Oradell - which recently was sold at auction. I don't know what will become of it, and the ones who purchased it are hoping to build an Assisted Living facility on the grounds. Progress, sometimes, is not the best. Time will tell on the fate of the mansion.....

Love the way you painted the siding on the house. I see in the original photo they have those old asbestos shingles. My grandparents had that same time of siding on their house. I too love the look of vines growing around a home. Never thought of the bug issues but often wondered if there were any ways to have the vines without the damage to the home.
Wow! love this series that you are working on. Just checked out your blog/website after a few months - you have really come a long way!!! Awesome work!
