Great Horned Owl - SOLD

Acrylic wash & ink on 8x10 canvas panel
Available through DPW gallery/auction

This is the third in my feathered friends series (I've decided to do a bit of a series of feathered friends in this style of ink & wash). This is a Great Horned Owl - a most captivating bird. And large also.

Have you ever seen an owl in person? Have you ever made direct eye contact with one? It's both fascinating & frightening. Are they deciding if I am something good to carry off & feed the family with? Or just sizing me up for defensive measures? A most unique bird.

I wouldn't know one owl from the next. I've seen them at the zoo or on tv but in nature? Only once and that was one that flew large right past my car window as we were driving on a secluded road. I think we scared each other. As always, a most exquisite work, Nancie!

very nice ! I love all the owls ..though I have not been lucky enough to ever be real close to one I have heard many around here though at night hooting . I like to make owl art but mine always happen to be lighthearted depictions which is hard to do sometimes they are a very serious looking bird. My favorite creature on earth.
