Autumn Dogwood

Acrylic on 9x12 canvas on Hardbord
Available through DPW gallery/auction

I love my Dogwood tree. It gives so many beautiful visuals throughout the seasons. Whether it's the delicate white flowers it produces in the spring, the wonderful green leaves with brown bark in the summer, and these wonderful red russet leaves in the fall. This caught my eye one morning, as the sun was shining on the leaves - so back in the house to grab the camera. I knew I would paint these as soon as I saw them.

I think this composition is magical, Nancie. Didn't know that dogwoods turned such pretty colors in the autumn. I don't see the tree up here much, but then again, I'm not sure I'd recognize it if I saw it.

You did an absolutly lovely job of those leaves, the light shines through them just beautifully and the colours are spot on. You'ver really captured that low sun, backlit autumnal feeling.
