Zealand Homestead

Acrylic on 9x12 canvas sheet
Available through DPW gallery/auction

This months Virtual Paintout visits Denmark, Island of Zealand - the original Google view can be seen here.

A wonderful place to roam about, following roads that wind their way through the countryside. There are also water scenes, grand buildings, cattle, boats, windmills. Really, a little bit of everything - and something for everyone.

It was the sky that caught my eye in this scene, as well as the field and road leading into the painting. The house, settled in among the greenery, and those trees that formed a canopy across the road - all added to the scene. And I loved the pattern made by the "vertical" lines in the bottom half of the image and the "horizontal" lines of the sky.

A lovely choice of spots, Nancie. I love that arched entryway to the house over the long drive. Surrounded by trees is exactly how I would want my homestead situated if I had the option.
