Grape Ivy on the Fence - SOLD

Acrylic on 9x12 canvas sheet
Available through DPW gallery/auction

This is my entry for this months VPO in St. Petersburg, Russia. I have another image I may paint for this month but not sure yet. The link for the original google view can be seen here.

If you head over to the VPO this month, you will see numerous paintings & drawings of the various buildings of St. Petersburg. So many of the buildings have ornate markings and unique shapes. So I find it a bit odd that I would choose a green landscape of the area to paint!

I loved the ivy along the fence. And grape ivy turns a brilliant red brown in the fall - I enhanced mine a bit with the red to make it stand out. But I think the thing that caught my eye so much was that foreground shadow that the tree is casting.

I love all vines but have to admit that I'd love to be sitting in an Adirondack chair in that lovely shade. I can hear the leaves soughing in the wind!

Thank you to you both. Yes, I would love to sit there in the shade, maybe do a bit of plein aire painting. Or just relax and watch the world go by!
