Flower Shoppe - SOLD

Acrylic on 9x12 canvas sheet
Available through DPW gallery/auction

Previously done in May 2010, this is one of my original "shapes" paintings. The photo was a rather busy market, but the shapes painted help to simplify the scene and still let it convey what it is. I love when that happens!

The buckets of flowers on the sidewalk are what drew me to this scene. I love when I am walking the sidewalk and find one of these vendors - store front or street vendor - with assorted cut flowers in water. The visual, the scent - and of course, the fact that I love flowers - all make it a wonderful experience.

And there is nothing like the sight of flowers to cheer a soul. Next time you are walking and you find cut flowers for sale, buy a bunch. It only needs to be a small one, nothing extravagant. Bring them home, put them in water & then put them in plain sight. I guarantee, you will smile.

Those striped awnings are just the thing for a flower vendor, yes? Gorgeous colors and marvelous way (the shapes) to get the impression of a multi-faceted market like this.

Il est bon de retrouver vos oeuvres après plus de 6 semaines d'absence... Je rentre tout juste des Philippines...
Une adorable peinture que cette dernière.
Gros bisous

Thank you both. I love the flower shops when I find them in the city. Today they had their daffodils out for sale - those sunny yellow flowers are so springlike. Everyone would just smile when they saw them.
