Sunflower
Studio Atelier's May challenge is this bright, big-faced sunflower. I could not resist zooming in closer to that big flower. I also moved it off center to create a different composition. Click to go to the website and look at all the artists renditions, they are all so different and wonderful. This was a fun subject to paint! So many bright colors, it's hard not to smile. And sunflowers will do that - they will make you smile.
I planted some one year and was amazed at how tall they grew. They require a great deal of sun - something I do not have a lot of in the yard. But maybe I can find a place for at least a few - so I can walk out my door in the mornings, during the summer months, & smile!

Your talent is really amazing. The composition with this sunflower is exciting and the vibrancy grabs me. I love the corn below - its highlights are wonderful.... Wow.
Une fleur gorgée de soleil et de couleurs... Bisous
Thats an eye catching crop you have worked upon Nancie.Too good!
Big, bold, and exciting. I'm noticing your pieces are all having that spark and tendency of late, Nancie. Beautiful work!
Very nice job on the sunflower painting and nice crop. I'm still working on mine. We tried to plant sunflower this year in the garden, and for some reason they had already died on us, I guess it's also because of a lacking of constant sunlight.
I love sunflowers and placing this one off center really makes it interesting.
