DPW challenge this week is this adorable cat, curled up on a comfortable sofa or chair. The light is on the cat strongly on it's left - because, as you may already know, animals love to lay in the sun! Even with all that fur you'll find them curled up in the sun, napping.
I really enjoyed painting this little cat - my first cat painting. I did the "shapes" painting on much of her fur, same as I've done on other animals. It seems to work for me, making blocks of color rather than trying to detail the fur - I just know I would get bogged down in the details! This was a lot of fun to paint and I loved watching this little kitty come to life.

Wow, Nan, this is awesome! You really captured the sweet expression on that kitty's face. I love your "shapes" painting. It's hard to believe you haven't painted a cat before.
It's really a success, Nancie, I love it!
A very nice painting Nancy.
So very well done, Nancie! You've handled the sunlight beautifully and you are so right. Sometimes I cannot figure out why cats love to lay in that hot sun. My three do it too, especially the two oldest.
Nan, honestly, it's getting frustrating for me to see all you guys who put up these wonderful cat paintings and then announce it's your first!!!! This is so well done, and with such a sure hand - and I love the background, too. Fabulous!
What a beautiful expressive little cat. Great job. Mine is laying in the trash. Not even the recycle bin. You really nailed this one.
