Jazz Man - SOLD

Acrylic on 9x12 canvas sheet -- ORIGINAL SOLD!
Prints available through Fine Art America

A second painting done for the challenge A Day Not Wasted. Couldn't let Lee's great photograph get past me without doing the face of this great sax player!

And a second painting done over the weekend, this is for Paint & Draw Together challenge. Titled "Red Rose & Vase" - I tried something different with this and I'm not sure it's working for me, but thought I would post. Let me know what you think.

Both paintings are 9x12 acrylic on canvas

Nancie, you did an awesome job on this sax player. I was so struck by Lee's photo that I really wanted to do this challenge also. Then got scared by the fact that it was a human form and face, which I am not very good with (though occasionally I do take this type of subject on just to get better at it). I thought your piece was a photo in my thumbnails. As to the second piece, it kind of grows on me the longer I look at it. There is something yummy in its simplicity; it isn't overpowering at all. It reminds me of when I was a kid and we would do a big design of all different colors then lay black crayon over top. Then we would scratch away the black with a bobby pin in whatever drawing we chose and would end up with a colorfully drawn artwork.

What a wonderful painting! I love the lights and darks--the light on the had and on the sunglasses are awesome. And I really like this background. Very unusual and interesting.
