Delphiniums

This months floral challenge over on Wet Canvas was an interesting one. We were each to paint the flower of our birth month. Mine being July, I believe the traditional flower is the larkspar - but the delphinium is also listed, at least here in the US.

This image is from a photo in the Wet Canvas library, uploaded for usage by user Granny R. Her image is a full bouquet with a wonderful glass vase, but I chose to zoom in on the flowers. And I played up the dark blues & purples behind with the light rose colors in front - all in the "shapes" style of painting. I rather like the play of color against one another - it seems to add a bit of depth to the image.

There is a wide assortment of renditions, along with various flower types - since the birthdays are varied. I didn't check, but hopefully, all 12 months have been represented. Head on over and check out the painting of your birth month's flower.

En cet hiver froid et neigeux en France, il est bon d'admirer des fleurs, vos fleurs...
