Lemon Slice
Done recently for the Rookie Painter challenge. I think I'm beginning to build a library of fruit paintings! But I find so many of them make very interesting subjects, especially when their "skin" has interesting textures.
I thought of changing the composition, but the design seemed to work for me. And I wanted to play with color in this one. I kept the yellows, but loved adding the "greens" to both the lemon slice & the table.
Sometimes the most simple of subjects can make for a very fun painting to do. Not that it was entirely stress-free -- I did repaint the green table twice & the blue background twice. I didn't like the first results so I simply redid them (the advantages of using Acrylics!).

Hi Nancie, this is a really nice painting of the lemons - I like the dark form and cast shadows and your use of green in the slice. I also looked through your other paintings and they are terrific too. You have a wide range of styles!
I think the addition of the green lends this pucker power! Lovely work, Nancie!
Very nice piece, Nancy, vibrant!
Very nice colors!
Thanks for the comment on my lemon! I love the colors in yours! I would love to let go more and use brighter colors... you really are an inspiration. Thanks!
This one is one of my favorites in the challenge. I love how you applied the color in blocks, rather than blending.
And thank you for listing my blog! I was so surprised. That is very kind of you.
