Sisters

Today was a productive day, art-wise. (see "With and Without" below - also done today).

These two paintings were done for the Inspiration All Around Us blog challenge. I loved this image when I saw it posted and had to paint it.

I did these as 2 separate paintings, but at the same time so the colors would match.

Acrylic on canvas sheet, roughly 7-1/2 x 11-1/2 each.

Simple and lovely. I don't know how you thought of making two paintings, but it works beautifully.

I so love both of these and they work beautifully together. They could be called "Sisters." I'm not sure why beach scenes with kids always draw me. Maybe because it makes me think of a more innocent and carefree time in my own life. Lovely work, Nancie!

Thank you all for your kind comments. I agree Chelsea, the color choice is soothing. I wanted that effect - because as Sherry pointed out, it is an innocent & carefree time in life! Barbara - I went with 2 different paintings because I thought of my 2 nieces as I did this. They are sisters, but as they grow up (one is now the magical age of 16, while the other is starting her teenager years at 13) they seem more independent of each other. So I kept these 2 "sisters" separate, although they are at the same beach!

Nancie, you did an awesome job with this challenge, i saw it and loved the carefree feeling of the images but was not sure if i would be able to capture it- you did and it works beautifully in your painting- i also like the idea of 2 different paintings.

Thanks Priti. I had hoped to capture some of that carefree feeling, glad it came through.
