This was recently done for the Virtual Paintout for May of the Czech Republic. I thought of trying this scene using knives only, but chose to use the brushes instead. I may do a second version of the same scene with knives - just to compare. But I have a list of other monthly challenges to paint yet, so this may be something I circle back around to.
I am not sure what the field of yellow is actually, it did appear to be some sort of a flower. In one area of the country I found numerous fields of these in bloom - but only in the one area. I did not find these fields of yellow anywhere else - and since I wanted to paint with color, these scenes in google captured my attention.

Beautifully painted, Nancie! I can feel my eyes swelling and running, my nose tickling, my throat thickening with the pollen! LOL
Oh Sherry, you are too funny! And now that you mention it, I'm sneezing too. LOL! Thanks, as always, for your valued comments!
This is a really lovely painting of what, I think, are mustard fields! Good composition, great sense of distance, - really really nice.
J'aime la profondeur apportée dans cette peinture... bel ensemble de couleurs. Bravo!
Thank you Sarah & Martine for your very kind comments. I really enjoyed doing this painting - and I find when I have that enjoyment it comes through in the work!
Mustard fields, hmmmmm. I found these fields so amazing, all this yellow suddenly. Amazing.
Hi Nancie, this is a great choice and perspective. Beautifully rendered.
Your yellow field is more than likely a field of sunflowers. If you check out my submission, you'll see them facing the road and part of a vast field of them. And this was clearly in the Google pic.
Or go to my blog where I also show them. http://bdycttdncr.blogspot.com
