This was recently done for the WC Different Strokes challenge (click on the name for a link to this forum thread). Head over to see more renditions on this challenge - there are some very creative people in this group.
This was a bit tricky, as Shirl (this months host) posted different pictures and we were told to combine. I had to play around in photoshop for a bit, to combine these 3 elements. And since I am into my abstract/impressionism phase, I opted to do the painting in that mode. All done with brushes (although I did toy with the idea of using knives on this one).
Acrylic on 9x12 canvas sheet.

I looked at the reference photos you had to chose from and I like your composition. I really like the straight lines leading into all of the curves and your abstraction of the photo made this painting very interesting. Good job!
You did a nice job with a tricky subject! I looked at the wetcanvas.com site and I did become a member, but I need to read through it all to understand it. Sounds interesting - thank you!
Thank you both. It was a very tricky subject, and seemed like quite the challenge for me. I struggled with a composition for quite a while, and changed my mind many times. I use to only paint what the photograph had -- now I'm trying to do the exact opposite!
Margaret - browse about the wetcanvas.com site. It has ALOT of information. And the forums are broken up into medias (oils, acrylics, sketching, etc) as well as separate ones for landscape, floral, etc. Almost all the forums have challenges - sometimes it's just what I need to get going! Of course, I sometimes over-book what I think I can do in 1 month's time. LOL. Hope you enjoy it.
Nancie, this is a great composition! You did this so well!
