Leaves in B/W

"Leaves in B/W"
Acrylic on 9x12 canvas panel
Available through DPW gallery/auction

Even with the bleeding heart flowers gone, I find the leaves still captivate - even in black & white. This acrylic painting tries to capture how the sunlight illuminates these leaves, creating a scene that seems to float in the breeze.

This started as a value study, but turned into a finished painting that catches the eye. The tones & values create a striking contrast to one another. This would look terrific matted in either white or black, and in a simple, thin black frame.
