The Christmas Present

9 x 12 Acrylic on canvas panel - NFS

This is the final Home Portrait done for 2013 and it was done as a Christmas gift for the couple that worked with me on the project here in NJ. They both worked hard at taking orders, processing my invoices, getting photos & info to me -- and likewise in getting the paintings delivered. So back during the summer when I made a delivery to their home when the library was closed, I took my camera with me. I had every intention of doing a surprise home portrait as a gift and a "thank you" to them.

I held off posting this until I heard from them that it was received. I didn't want to spoil a surprise - not sure if they read or follow my postings online. But I heard from them yesterday & they loved it! So glad - I always hope that the home portraits I do are loved when they are finished & delivered.

One of my 2014 plans is to expand on this project, and work with other towns & libraries to do home portraits in their area. This first town project was made so much easier with the help of this couple and I've learned so much that will make the new town projects so much easier.

I'm looking forward to the new year & another year of art!

This is a beautiful home portrait and I was not surprised to hear that they loved it. You are so talented, Nancie!

You have found a perfect niche and your paintings are beautiful. I can picture a big New York show filled with your homes. It would be wonderful to choose an old town and visit, (like New Orleans) take photos with a log of the addresses and paint the ones you love. Then you could also contact the residents and they may purchase. There are so many lovely towns in the USA.
