Autumn Leftover - SOLD

"Autumn Leftover"
9x12 acrylic on canvas panel
Available through DPW gallery/auction

Previously painted in 2012,
this painting is now on a 1-week auction at DPW
at a very affordable starting bid!

This was painted after a drive through upstate NY. As the passenger, I sat & stared out the window at the trees going past. Woods and forests have always fascinated me, even when traveling past at 70 mph. At this time of year the trees upstate are now bare - well, most of the trees. There is always some in the woods that I see still with leaves attached. It's usually the smaller ones that are tucked in among the larger trees - their autumn leftover leaves catching the light. Their color is now more brownish that the strong fall colors - but it is always a stark contrast to the backdrop of tree trunks & branches. The first snow will collect on the branches & even the leftover leaves, but still they cling. That is what I tried to capture here.

Bonjour,

Gros bisous.

I have driven in upstate NY during some fierce winter storms and it really is as beautiful as you've painted here. We still have leaves, even some green, but they are turning and falling. Won't be long before they are gone until the spring.
