30 in 30 days - Day 27 - Patch of Blue

Acrylic on 8x10 stretched canvas
Available through DPW gallery/auction

I love to paint clouds. Love to work the white with colors & add shadows & depth in them. And I love how they reflect in water on land, creating a shadowy, silvery scene. But sometimes, you get that patch of blue sky that breaks out in the sky suddenly, and that blue gets reflected below in the water. This was a scene I photographed in upstate NY one day on vacation. I've wanted to paint it for a while, and having a "white" challenge right now seems like the perfect time!

Seeing the sky and clouds reflected in water always stops me in my tracks so I can easily see why this scene captivated you. I love it and the dark grasses are just perfect to highlight this marshy area.

This is really beautiful Nan. I love how you've captured the clouds reflections in the water.
