Licorice

Acrylic on 12x12 stretched canvas
painted image continues on all 4 sides
Available through DPW gallery/auction

Originally painted in March 2010, this painting was definitely a labor of love. I always loved these candies as a child. I would find them in candy dishes whenever we went visiting at the holidays. And of course, I couldn't east just one - and I couldn't just eat it either! I had to take it apart and eat the parts separately. And I wanted one of every color & every shape! I always thought that the different colors tasted differently -- maybe they actually do. The dark black sections are the actual licorice, and that was a good part also.

I like licorice too and was just thinking about Snaps the other day. I remember when you painted this one, Nancie. It still brings memories of childhood.
