The Porch - SOLD

Acrylic on 9x12 canvas sheet,
mounted on 1/8" flat hardboard
Available through DPW gallery/auction

I am so in love with this porch!

This beautiful scene belongs to a cousin of mine, and when he posted this image on his Facebook page, I wrote to ask permission to paint it. The flowers, the light, shadow, stripes and those wonderful deep rust-red pillows -- not to mention the background greenery -- all of this just beckoned me onto the porch. It makes me want to just sit down, a nice cool drink in my hand, and just restore my spirit. A place like this is good for the soul, a sanctuary from the outside world. A place to go to when you need to rejuvenate.

Ah Patrick, you are so lucky to have such a location to go to. And such a wonderful green thumb as well (gardening runs in the family genes, no matter how far apart on the branches of the family tree, it is a common bond throughout).

You turned your love into the painting so well. This love is shining in very brushstroke.
I want to join with the glass of cool drink, too. White wine?

What a beautiful tree top paradise, Nan! (That is what it reminds me of...) Your cousin is indeed fortunate to have such a gorgeous haven.

What a beautiful painting! The porch is so welcoming, I feel like spending time there...:) The rich red velvety pillows, flowers and the greenery have all come together. I loved the feeling it evokes. This, combined with the finish/skill, have made the painting so successful. Well done, Nan!
