The Angels Wanna Wear My Red Shoes

Top painting - SOLD
Bottom painting still available
Acrylic on 9x12 canvas sheet
Available through DPW gallery/auction

A pair of pairs! This weeks DPW challenge is to paint your shoes, and that tied in with my desire to do a series of small shoe paintings.

Now these were my shoes -- about 30 years ago before my "center of gravity" got up & left me. I wore heels - always. Loved 'em. And being short, these helped me feel tall. Yes, my feet would hurt - but not all that often & not for very long. Then again, 30 years ago, my body was able to heal itself in about 15 minutes. (one of the amazing things about youth!) And I think that shoes are like sports cars, if you're gonna have a sports car (if you're gonna wear the high heels) - well then, they oughta be RED!

These 2 are the beginning of my series on shoes - done on small square block stretched canvas's. Each is a 6x6 inch square, with gallery-wrapped edges that is 1-1/2 inches thick. These will hang on any wall as is, or easily stand on any shelf, and are available through my DPW gallery/auctions. I will combine these 2 into 1 package for shipping, if purchased together.

One additional note - while I painted, I could not get the song by Elvis Costello out of my head. Hence the title of this piece. Here's a link to a YouTube video of the song/artist.

Love the red shoes Nan, and I love learning a bit more about you too. I would so wear these if I wasn't feeling that same center of gravity shifting phenomenon...or dealing with sore feet from simply standing on them. LOL

Wow! Nice paintings. And yes I remember the days of stiletto heels (sigh). My first pair were red, too - I was 18.
