Pier at Sunset

This was done a short time back for a photo challenge. When Inspiration All Around did their silhouette challenge, I felt this image fit right in. Backlit objects always fascinate me - their presence is always known yet they offer limited details.

I spent a great deal of time blending in this painting, both the sky and the water. Then adding the various light reflections into the water was a balancing act. Too much yellow, too much red, not enough brown. This was reworked numerous times until I was happy with it. The actual silhouette was the easiest part of this painting since it was simple color & shading with simple details.

This is beautiful! Looks just like a postcard! I like how you make all the yellow, orange and brown work harmoniously!

Thank you, glad you all liked the colors. This is one of those paintings that although I reworked it a lot, I enjoyed it because of the colors. Just had to get the right balance, that's all!
