Prince Edward Island

Done for this months Virtual Paintout, this scene is from the Prince Edward Island. I roamed that entire island, I think, looking for something a bit different. PE has beautiful landscapes, mostly flat - no mountains (that I could find). Also, I mostly found cottages but nothing that I would call a city-scape.

I saw many, many images of farmers fields with the large bales of hay. In fact, some artists chose those images to paint - and I almost did until I found this one. The round bales of hay on the trailer intrigued me, the shape & values especially. But also that tractor, I knew, would be a challenge for me.

I did do one other scene, which is a more traditional landscape, which I'll post here as well.

Nancie, thanks for visiting my blog and making such warm comments. I appreciate them. I saw these two on VP, but no link to your site, so I went hunting for it because I really like these two. What a nice job you did on them. I had chosen some scenes with the rolled hay, but none really gave me the WOW factor. This one scene has the WOW factor and you did a great job with it. Good find. Wonderful painting. And, this sure is representational of PEI.

Nancie, your two paintings are beautiful. The tractor one especially, not only is the subject interesting, the color is beautiful. My son saw your tractor painting and he said "wow, that's awesome!" Great job!

These are both really terrific paintings, but I also love the one of the tractor. It's just so different!

I think both pieces are lovely, Nancie. The greens in the traditional landscape are exquisite! Love the unusual factor in the tractor and hay bales piece!

I really like both of these paintings, Nancie. I'm glad you found the tractor. That makes and interesting painting. Isn't is fun to see what moments in life Google captures in their travels?

You always find the gem scenes, love the tractor, the wheels and shadows are amazing.

Both are beautiful paintings Nancie, although my favorite is the tractor image. The dynamics and the shadows keep the eye entertained. August was my first entry in the virtual paintout, looking forward to where we are going this month.
