Hydrangea Bunch
This is my entry into the Inspiration All Around Us challenge, called Enduring Grace. These are Hydrangea flowers, or as I knew them as a child, snowball bushes. I have painted these flowers in the past, in fact, I have a photo uploaded in this blog that I previously did of my neighbors bush.
I'm not sure yet if this is done, my brush is still close at hand and I imagine I will work & tweak this further. There just doesn't seem to be enough umph - or as I usually say "it doesn't pop." Maybe some darker blue lines - perhaps some thin spots of a Cobalt Blue within the violet blue to help enhance them. As I said, I'm not sure yet. I have been known to go back & tweak a painting that has been untouched for a year. Sometimes it takes me that long to see the painting with new eyes.

This is a great composition, Nancie. I really admire your patience with all those petals! If you did want to go back and tweak things how about adding a contrasting colour, that might help to make things pop? Try some yellow or orange in the highlights.
I think it is gorgeous, Nancie. Hydrangeas are my second favorite flowers, those changing colors always so beautiful and varied within one flower. Gorgeous greens in those leaves too!
Thank you both for your comments. I'm glad you like it. Sherry, if hydrangeas are your 2nd favorite, what is your first? I'm fond of these big "fluffy" flowers as well. Caroline - I had tried yellow in the highlights & didn't like it so took it out. But I hadn't tried orange and I think that one may do the trick! Thank you!
Lilacs!!
I love the deep purples and blues. This painting is so nice. Like a breath of fresh air.
