I have had every intention of painting this home ever since I discovered the 1930's Oradell photos. This is the Atwood-Blauvelt Mansion, located in Oradell NJ. It is truly a grand mansion and one that every Bergen County person remembers & knows. It is located on a large piece of land with a 2-acre front lawn. This beautiful mansion's future is unknown. It has been sold, at auction, and purchased by a company that wants to put an assisted living facility on the lawn. The fate of the building is unknown. This is probably one of the saddest things to learn and it had a lot to do with my desire to paint this beautiful building. I needed to paint it and I have to admit that this painting turned out even better than I had envisioned.
I am currently working on a smaller piece which is of the carriage house that is on the premises. The carriage house was turned into a museum some years ago and still functions as one today. Hopefully that will remain active!

Artists Note: I have been accepted into the Art in the Park art show in Bergen County NJ. It is the same county that has this beautiful mansion - so this piece will be the focal point of my architectural display. Tout comme vous je suis souvent désolée et désarmée lorsque je m'aperçois que certaines belles grandes demeures ou même certaines maisons remplies de charme sont vouées à la destruction au profit d'immeubles hideux !
Elles ont une âme... Vous l'avez magnifiquement capturée dans votre peinture.

Try doing a sort by price, highest to lowest, on both eBay and Etsy. You'll be amazed at what some people value their artwork at, Nancie. I know I am.
Hello Nan:) By now you almost painted a complete city. All the houses and building are so beautifully with each their own details. Great job and very nice!
