The Blue Gate - SOLD

Acrylic on 9x12 canvas sheet
Available through DPW gallery/auction

This is a second submission to the VPO challenge this month, Arles France. The original Google map location can be seen here.

I seem to be in a bit of a blue phase, as both VPO paintings featured this rich, cobalt blue in them.

This is just beautiful, Nancie! I love the bright spots of blue and those bushes on the right side are exquisitely handled! I so would love to live in a house just like this one!

Great painting and you found a wonderful sunlit spot. What blue is that?

Arles est une très belle ville... Une région pleine de lumière et de senteurs... J'aime beaucoup les bleus de la méditerranée. Belle interprétation.
Gros bisous

I came to your blog for the first time after seeing your two pieces on virtualpaintout, liking them both and knowing they had to be by the same person. When I saw your name under both, I had to see more. I really love your Sax Player too. Great composition.

Thank you all for your kind words. I loved working with this blue - it's Cobalt Blue Hue. It is a very bold color and I've used it in small amounts in the past - sometimes adding a smidge to my blue sky color to make it more vivid. On this painting, and Blue Shutters, I used it directly from the tube, applying thin layers over & over to deepen it.
