Vase with Cantaloupe

Acrylic on 9x12 canvas sheet
Available through DPW gallery/auction

This was done for the Paint & Draw Together challenge. I chose to crop in closer and literally touch the 4 edges with a part of the image. I'm not sure why, other than it felt right to go with the tight crop. I also did shapes painting, especially in the cantaloupe. And I also loved working with the reflections and light on the vase. I kept the dark background because I really liked the drama of the original. The only thing that is not in this is the cloth at the base which has looped fringe. Although I liked that part of the image, I wanted to keep the visual more uniform between the 3 items (vase, flower stretching to the right & the cantaloupe), so I cropped them off the image in my version. I may go back at another time & play with this photo a bit, maybe finding a different crop that would include the cloth & fringe - they are so vivid in color, it would be a shame to skip them completely. I am drawn to the fringe so I will probably need to paint it!

Bonjour Nancy,
Vos nuances de bleus qui apparaissent sur chacun de vos sujets apportent une grande luminosité à votre oeuvre.
Gros bisous
